The City of Canora is located at the junction of an east-west C.N.R. mainline, and the C.N.R. line which heads north to the Port of Churchill. The name Canora was derived from the debut of the CANADIAN NORTHERN RAILWAY, (CA-NO-RA). It is also situated at the junction of Highways No. 5 and 9. This location gives Canora one of the highest traffic counts in the Province. Canora has a stable population of 2,200 persons and draws on a trading population in excess of 15,000. |
The City provides it's residents with all the necessary amenities; schools, protective services, medical services, and a host of recreational facilities including a sports arena, an indoor swimming pool and golf & country club. In addition there are a host of public playgrounds and parks in the local area, and both cross country and downhill skiing nearby, as well as snomobiling trails. |
