Adult Beginner Course

This course features 8 weeks of lessons that divide into 6 weeks of instruction and two weeks with progress testing. The course covers basics of note reading (left & right), timing, chording, & simple accompaniments. This course is designed as just an introductory to basic piano instruction and the option to continue onto further study is available upon completion of this course. The course is designed in modules and each week the next module will be released to the student as they progress through the course.

Junior Beginner Course

This course is currently still being offered, however, may be replaced with a more interactive course in the future. This course is ideal for ages 7 and up but it is highly recommended that a parent be present in the room during each session.  The course uses name association and story interaction to help in learning the notes, timing and simple chords. Because in the age group that this course is designed for, it will not cover amount of information that the adult course does however upon completion, the student will also have the option to continue in a recommended curriculum. (E.g.; Alfred's, Bastien, etc.) This course also is equipped with 8 lessons; 6 lessons of instruction and 2 lessons with progress exams to evaluate their progress. This course is also based on modules that will be released upon the students progression throughout the course.

Intermediate & Advanced Study

Although we do not have a package for intermediate & advanced study, we do offer professional instruction in these areas. We use a wide variety of courses from the Alfred's Basic Piano Library and the James Bastien series to the Royal Conservatory or Conservatory Canada (and equivalents). For some students, we may occasionally blends some pop music instruction as well. We use our discretion as to what curriculum addresses each individual's need's.  All lessons may be purchased in Blocks.  The greater the block the you purchase, the greater the saving you earn for example:

T h e o r y   C l a s s e s

Musikgeek Services and Shannon's Music School are now offering theory classes in preparation for preliminary to grade 2 Rudiment exams. Classes to start in September 2001. These classes are recommended for the more advanced students that are wanting to complete their theory components of study and they will be based on the RCM recommended curriculum. These will be conducted in small classes. Please contact us for more information. Class lengths will depend on amount of students in the classroom - ranging from a half hour to an hour. Classes will be available in Preliminary, Grade One, and Grade Two Rudiments. More levels will be added in future. Theory lessons may be purchased in four or eight lesson blocks.

The text book - Elementary Rudiments of Music -by Barbara Wharram is required for this class. You may purchase it at Shannon's Music House.

All students will be required to go through a series of system checks to check if their system requirements are satisfactory. Students will not be charged for these checks. All money will be returned upon any incompatibility of the student's computer system.
